Gawker’s recap of Top Chef = Dropping acid in God’s house

Gawker/Defamer’s recap of Top Chef this week is… well, why should I describe it when commenter Jeangenie does it so much better:

Reading this post and then trying to watch the show as if you hadn’t is going to be like taking a lot of acid and then trying to go back to mass.

Socratic Veganism

If a vegan cop falls outside a vegan cafe and no one’s there to hate, does it make a point?

A Gawker commenter brings philosophy to bear while discussing an incident in which a Portland cafe owner allegedly asked a uniformed policeman to leave because he was making customers uncomfortable.

Eater or Gawker?

I vaguely know that Jersey Shore is a reality show. So why is it on the home page of Eater?

In other news, why the frickfrack can’t you just upload images directly to Tumblr? Or am I just not seeing how to do it? Having to go through Flickr is driving me nuts.

Oh wow, hey everybody, all the fancy people in New York City, gather ‘round and look at this: It’s fried chicken! Here is a newsworthy new trend, “foodies”: Chicken, rolled in flour or batter, and fried. Alert the media!

Hamilton Nolan, Gawker, 10/7/09.  An oldie but goodie.

  • Shut Up, Bacon #72299: That’s A Stretch January 8, 2014
New Rising Media reports “Study Shows Eating Bacon Will Make You Live Longer,” an incredibly misleading headline about a study in which scientists tested roundworms with doses of niacin. My favorite part of this report? “The vitamin [niacin] is also rich in the likes of Marmite, paprika, peanuts and sun-dried tomatoes.” Because, as we all… […]

While it is true that I am a whitey-white ass who had her first churro on the Redondo Beach pier sometime in the 1970s,  nonetheless I’m pretty sure that a cotton candy churro is super wrong.* *Let it be known I tried to embed the image but Instagram code won’t work on our ancient WordPress… […]
